Whole Foods knows how to get a foodie excited.  Jan. 30th was Whole Food's Chili Cookoff, and of course, @mousethedog, @windaddict, and myself attended.  The premise of this cook off is that employees of Whole Foods come up with recipes that are served over a three hour period.  The public gets to vote for their favorite chili, and then a winner is declared.  That's the short of it anyways.

While all the chili's were yummy (chocolate, vegan, and even salmon), the one that stood out for me was the Austin's True Chili made by Austin Russell.  This delicious chili was full of large chunks of brisket, the aroma of Smokey bacon, a blend of flavors that wasn't overly spicy, and topped with hot sauce.  This chili needs no cilantro, sour cream, or chips.  It sticks to your ribs, and it makes thankful that you eat meat.  Also, it has beer. :o) There was no doubt in my mind when I voted for this one, however another chili served with corn bread was pretty darn good as well.

The recipe is posted courtesy of Austin Russell.  Enjoy!  I know you will.  It does take 5 lbs of bacon after all.  Sorry about the quality.  I had to scan it in.

Here's a photo of Mouse the dog.  He tried to eat all the chili.  He surely did.
