Yes, I know Swissies weren't bred for water rescue. But since Dick was teaching it, we decided that it was worth a 2 hour drive each way. Mouse has really surprised me. He's taken to the water like a natural and extreme enthusiastic about saving people. Twice in one training session he's ripped through his soft crate to do a rescue. So much for the crate, at least he's got great instincts. Recommended books: Water Work, Water Play by Judi Adler This book has a REALLY great section on control and suggestions for problems in training. That section is a MUST for 99.9% of all dog owners out there. Dog Works and the Newf National Club should have it. Email me if you cannot find the book.
